Burns’s interests include complex geometry and analysis, and computational biology. He is one of the organizers of the Buea (Cameroon) International Conferences in the Mathematical Sciences, and member of the STEM-Africa initiative of the African Studies Center at the University of Michigan.
This is his first visit to CETIC, where he is working with his collaborator Paul Udoh of the University of Uyo (Nigeria) on the mechanics of membrane dynamics as applied to the cell and nuclear boundaries.
